Wedding Pics: Reception Part 2
To continue from part one… after all the “official” toasts, our godparents decided to crash the mic and give an impromptu speech as well. After the toasts, we had the “shoe game”. If you’ve never heard of it, here’s how it goes: the bride and groom are seated back to back, and take off their shoes and trade one with each other. So, when it’s all set up, the bride and groom can’t see each other, and each have one of the groom’s shoes and one of the bride’s shoes. Then somebody asks questions like “Who is most likely going to read on the beach on your honeymoon?”, and we raise the shoe of the person we think is the best answer. Hilarity ensues.
After all that, we cut the cake, which was a giant cupcake made for us by Kyle’s sister Shannon to match our wedding cupcakes. The cupcake tower was filled with chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with blue icing made by Cakeworks. A note to any future brides reading this- yes, blue icing will stain everything. And I mean everything. We lost some linen damage deposits because some people had a cupcake fight and the icing stained. Plus all our pictures now have people with blue tongues and teeth! But it’s okay- it still tasted good!
While people helped themselves to the cupcakes and dessert buffet, Kyle and I went around with platters of tuxedo strawberries as a way of making sure we said hi to everyone at the reception. After that, I tossed my bouquet, then we visited some more, and finally we left for our honeymoon to Varadero, Cuba!
